Cherkasy Oblast is located in the central part of Ukraine, region lies on the right and the left banks of the Dnieper River. Relief of Cherkasy Oblast is mainly flat, right-bank part of the region is located within the Dnieper Upland, left bank within Dnieper Lowland, along the valley of Dnieper River a 70 km long low mountains stretches (locals call it Kanevsky mountains). The most common natural resources, deposits of which are explored in subsoil of Cherkasy Oblast, are peat, bentonite clay, lignite, granite, also there are certain stocks of labradorite explored. The economy of Cherkasy Oblast includes manufacturing industries, food and chemical industries, mechanical engineering and metalworking, mining sector.
